Hello John,
You have made a wonderful side. And I am surprised to find photos of my familie on the
internet.
I thought that my familie were no great travellers. But I am happy to see that there is at least one man that succeed to live down under.
I am Camiel, (33 years) ,son of Hans Janmaat, the youngest soccer player on the
photo. I am born in Baambrugge, a small village about 5 kilometre from Vinkeveen and live for several years in the centre of Amsterdam.
Please can you tell me which relation we have. It is not clear how these diagrams work.
Good luck and keep up the good work. regards,
Camiel

Hi John,
Very impressive site. I never knew there were so many stories about the name Janmaat, as
I was only told the story of the sailor. I wish you good luck with your search to the origin of the name
Janmaat.

Hi, very interesting site. It is fun to read about were our last name came from. The only explanation I ever heard was that it came from the word sailor, back in the 17th century, on the great VOC ships. There is actually a book about the adventures of a boy aboard a VOC ship, were they mention
Janmaat as a name for shipmates. Well keep up the good work. Greetings

My family and I were very interested to view your Thiele pages. You have obviously gone to a great deal of trouble. Unfortunately you have no information on my leg of the Thiele family. I am the daughter of Malcolm and Margaret of Loxton. Malcolm is the son of Rudolph who is the son of Johanne Friedrick. There is a THIELE book which I have a copy of which may help you a great deal and my father, who is now 72 would be a wealth of
knowledge.
Fondest Regards,

Your page is terrific! I've been looking for about 1 & 1/2 hours now. I'm looking for a connection to the
Thiele's.
I have Johann Carl THIELE wife Catherine Lisette OSTERBURG together they had 13 children, 1 in particular Andreas Carl
(b) 1 Sept 1862 who married Anne Elisabeth Maria OTTO 1889 S.A. You have both THIELE
& OTTO in your database, can you help me\? Anne OTTO \& Anna Bertha OTTO are sister, Anna also married a THIELE - Johann Bernhardt in 1891. I need to know if the 2 THIELE\'s are related.\

John,
Ik ben door je informatie gegaan en heb nu 2384 nazaten van Adrian Jansz Janmaat. Verdeeld in 765 relaties.
Jacob Ariens Keijser is waarschijnlijk de vader van Adrian zijn vrouw Reymke.
De informatie is een goed en gedegen stuk werk.
Ik hoop, dat je doorgaat en dat het nog eens tot publiciteit komt.

It's nice reading all this information about our familyname. I'll try to get some more information, about our roots. I can tell you already, the most of my family (as far as I'm well informed)was born in the neighbourhood of Mijdrecht-Vinkeveen. An uncle told me once, the name Janmaat means sailorman because many years ago a former Greec (!) refugee sailed on a dutch ship to Holland and on to survive and to get some food he had to work as a "janmaat".
I send you my greetings and I will follow youre results with great interest.

I am the President of the Marion Cricket Club and am trying to contact Luke Janmaat who
was the Secretary of this Club in 1977/78 and 1978/79. We have some blank spots on our
Honour Board for those seasons and think that Luke may be able to give us some information
which would help us fill in the gaps.
